Starting life out as the United Malay State Sugar Industries (UMSSI) in 1965, Central Sugars Refinery stepped out into the world with a small yet noble dream; to be Malaysia’s go-to name when it comes to sugars and sweeteners. Nearly half a century later, that dream is still going strong.

From a modest sugar melting capacity of 150 metric tonnes at inception, CSR now churns out 1800 metric tonnes a day providing only the finest sugar and specialty sweetener ingredients for consumers, retailers, foodservice distributors, food manufacturers, culinary professionals and specialty markets across Malaysia.

Base Range

Coarse Sugar
White in appearance, Coarse Sugar’s slightly larger crystals are used to great effect in cooking, food decoration and when added to beverages. Widely used for various cooking and beverages.

Natural Brown Sugar
Light brown crystals flavoured with molasses, Natural Brown Sugar contains less moisture and it is perfect substitution for users who is looking forward to fine-tune their diet.

Fine Sugar
The most common sugar of them all – white, fine granulated sugar can be found in any household. Its fine-grained texture makes it especially suitable for recipes where a faster rate of dissolving is required.

Better Brown Sugar
A unique brown sugar that contains natural polyphenol extracted from sugarcane. Polyphenol act as an antioxidant and has the ability to support normal blood sugar levels. Better Brown is also an ideal blend to enhance tastiness for various type of food and drinks.

Premium Range

Caster Sugar
The smallest-size crystal sugar, it has a superfast dissolving rate. It is particularly handy for smooth blending.

Icing Sugar
A powdered sugar with a smooth texture. It contains corn starch as an anti-caking agent, and is easily combined with fast dissolve rate.

Golden Brown Sugar
Golden yellow in appearance. Provide a distinctive sweet and it contains moderate molasses content.

Soft Brown Sugar
The fine crystals of Soft Brown are dark brown in colour and soft, slightly moist texture.

Traditional Brown Sugar
Made from 100% pure cane juice, this sugar is identical to Gula Melaka (traditional Malaysian brown sugar). Presented in cylindrical cake blocks, it provides natural sweetness with no artificial colouring.

Aromatic Brown Sugar
This is a warm honey-coloured sugar with a moist crumbly texture. Its creamy aromatic flavour is derived from its rich molasses content.

Alternative Range

Half (Stevia & Sugar Mix)
This is a white, fine granulated sugar. The combination of sugar with stevia (extracted from the stevia plant), produces a unique sweetness with mild aftertaste. It has been specially formulated to reduce calorie intake whilst preserving sweetness – the perfect alternative for those looking for a healthier option.
